Season Two Kick-off
We’re excited to announce that Season Two has officially begun with our first training sessions and our first game this weekend!
Grading/Welcome Day Success
Our Grading/Welcome Day was a tremendous success with over 500 children attending and with families over 1000 people on the day. A special shoutout to the 15 amazing volunteers who cooked, managed merchandise, handled IT, operated the television, and captured memories through photos and our coaches. Your hard work made a difference, and without each and everyone of you the day would not be possible
A heartfelt thank you to all our helpers at check-in and to the children who answered countless questions. Our IT team was invaluable, and the coaches on the floor—thank you for your dedication. Additionally, our storeroom had an impressive turnover of nearly $4000 on the day which is remarkable considering our most expensive item is only $40 and most items are around $15. What an amazing result!
Historic Achievement for Our Club
This season, we have reached an incredible milestone of 100 teams! This is the first time in our association's history that any club has achieved this, and you are all part of this historic event. With great size comes great responsibility. Our closest competitor is about 30% smaller, with roughly 300 fewer members. It’s essential that we remain respectful and supportive of those clubs that may not have the same resources we do especially the very small clubs
Upcoming Events
- Movie Day: We have an exciting movie day planned for August at Sunnybank. More information will be shared soon!
- Basketball Program: We’ve launched a small basketball program at St Peters Rochedale with the support of “Supported by the Lord Mayor’s Community Fund and Councillor Kim Marx, Councillor for Runcorn Ward”, adding to our community initiatives.
- Canadian Basketball Games: This Sunday, our Under 18 team will compete against a Canadian team at Hibiscus. The Under 16 girls will face Belmont Saints at 11 AM, followed by the Under 18 boys at 12 PM. These will be fantastic games to watch and a great opportunity to see how our players stack up against their Canadian counterparts. I spoke to the coach of a team that has already played them and he said he has never seen so many dunks in one game! If you have the time, do come along and support the teams.
Technology Update
We’ve experienced some issues with Basketball Connect and WhatsApp over the past week. Thank you for your patience as we work through these challenges. Please remember that welcome letters and other important information are available on our website. If you’ve missed an email or need assistance, feel free to contact me
Wishing everyone a fantastic Season Two!
