Hi Coaches,

Couple of little things.

1^st – I have spoken to Basketball Qld and SWM about some more coaching courses and will keep everyone in the loop.

2^nd – The club is very keen on our U10 and U12 doing Station training for a lot of their session each week. I have been watching these 2 age groups & a lot of them cannot do a layup off one foot,a lot do a jump stop as they shoot like they pass (shoot 2 hands) and so can’t do a layup off one foot. Spoke to Steve Edwards and he said that they did not spend enough time on the basic’s which is what the station training will do & this was reinforced at the coaching clinic last year.

3^rd – Others on the court while you are coaching. When others are on the court people are distracted. On Thursday a girl got hit in the face with a ball while doing a passing drill. Her nose bled for 20 minutes. There were boys playing at the other end of the court and the kids being coached were looking up at the other end quite often – did this girl get hit in the face because she looked at the other end when the ball was passed at her, probably.

Everyone has a training time, players cannot just come & shoot around anytime they want – the school just spent $40k on the courts out the back so no one should be on the courts except the age groups that is supposed to be there.

Our role as coaches is to ensure the players are in a safe environment – please ensure no one is on the court except those that have the allocated time frame. If you have any difficulties please take a pic of the problem people and send it to us and someone will ensure it gets dealt with.

I think everything else is going ok as no one has said anything, but any issues please see the age coordinator or one of the committee members you all know where we are
