Hi All,

Well we’ve had our first game of the term which was pretty exciting stuff. It was so great to see so many smiling faces. On a personal basis I coached or helped coach three teams over the weekend. Even though all of them lost by either one or two points, everyone was so still happy which was great to see.

This term is a difficult term for the committee as not everyone comes back from the previous season and we get a lot of new members who have to be allocated into a team. We also need to make sure all the teams have enough players, check training venues & the list goes on. This term we had to start the competition immediately whereas normally we have a few weeks of trial games, but everything seems to be going ok.

We had 2 visits from the ambulance at the courts on the weekend which was not a usual occurrence I have only seen one in the last 18 months & on the weekend both were for Rockets players. We had an older girl who got a bump in the chest and Torrez who plays in U12. Both are fine and will be back shortly.

Torrez tripped over one of his mates, fell and dislocated his elbow. This could have easily happened at home. I was very pleased how the court coordinator stayed with Torrez the entire time and supported him and his family. This is where you Southwest fees go to.

Each month we look to do something in the community, this month and next month we will be doing basketball sessions at MacGregor State School & will be doing something with the Warrigal Road State School at the end of the month.
