Another wonderful week I thought.

On Friday we had a photographer take some pics of our Mascot with the children. The photos will be included on the Pirates Facebook as our Mascot now has a name, he will be called Rocky the Rocket.

There were a couple of families who stayed after Friday’s training and watched our U16 boys play. By the look of it, the children really enjoyed themselves, it is good to see the older boys and girls play.

I went to see the Pirates game on Saturday night, it did finish a little late but it was a great game. Mathiang played well and the Pirates had a good win. Sidney Mines who does our Thursday training his son Jonathan plays for the Pirates QSL team. Johnathan has come back from Europe where he was playing professional Basketball last year. Jarrett, our Girls FNYL and U16 Gold boys coach, is also playing in the QSL div 2(Queensland State League). So there are a lot of people connected with Runcorn Rockets playing at the high level of Basketball.

Watching the games on Friday and Saturday, I see that a lot of coaches are looking for parents to do the score bench. From my experience your children do think it is pretty cool that their parents are sitting on the bench, it is not difficult. The Court supervisors will help. We have to have a scorer every game so everyone in a team will need to take a turn (about once a term so not a lot) you can pay someone to do your turn I normally get an Umpire who is not doing a game and cost $10.

I do want to thank everyone for helping with signing in at training and leaving the hall when required. I was told several weeks ago Nissan Arena was inspected and were not quite perfect with their Covid plan & were warned if they did not follow the plan exactly they would could be closed down, so we all need to follow our plan exactly. We do have a Covid plan with Covid officers & we need to follow the rules exactly. All we ask of you is that you ensure you sign in and sanitize your hands. So thank you.
