Hi all U8 parents who are playing games

Below is the draw for this week. You will see team RRM 0801 has a bye which means that team does not play this week – each week there is a team that does not play as we have odd number of teams (13 teams I think) so one team does not have anyone to play, common occurrence in team sport. It should only be once or twice a season so it will not happen often, I think this is the first time a Rockets team has had a bye and we are 8 weeks into the season.

This is a wonderful age group and I have seen how you all work together and I know your children learn a lot from seeing what you do as parents. If we could be mindful of times it would be appreciated, I know this group all work together but just be mindful of that please.

Basketball Connect - Game Schedule

As we are all aware Runcorn is not available next week – what SWM have organised is that instead of games you can have a training session at Hibiscus.

Our requirement for u8 is to supply a referee, in saying a referee it is about coaching on the run and the rules are 4 on 4 (this means each team has 4 on the court at a time) you can reduce the numbers if both teams don’t have enough. The children will truly never get an experience where they play a game and someone guides them through what they are doing wrong and right on the court playing a game so I think this process is great for the kids.

Please don’t be shy a everyone needs help – the coach may be on the court and not have time to remember who has come on and who has come off so please walk forward and ask the coach how you can help your child will think it is pretty special and I am sure you will also get a buzz of out it.

I would like to express my gratitude to all the coaches and parents who have dedicated their time and effort to help our U8 program. It is because of your dedication that our children have a memorable basketball experience.
