Hi everyone,
at our grading day in January I mention about the expectations Nissan had of us as Hirers. They spoke to me today about the below and I have now received this in writing.
Part of our agreement was to follow staff instructions, stay on our courts and do not shoot on Netball Hoops.
So everone is aware if they cancel our agreement we have no where to train. Below is what I received tonight.
I am not sure what to do, I have spoken to many children over the course of a few weeks. Should I keep talking to these children and then if the venue managment then talks to them and our contract is cancelled noone trains or should I ask those children to leave and ensure we all have a venue to train at.
Dear Mark,
We are writing to formally raise several concerns regarding participant behaviour during your recent bookings at our venue.
Over the course of your sessions, we have observed several instances of inappropriate and unsafe behaviour, including:
• Children hanging off the volleyball net that had been set up, stretching it and creating a dip in the middle. This not only risks damaging our equipment but also poses a significant safety risk to your participants, who could injure themselves by falling.
• Running around Court 4 and squirting water at each other. When asked to stop and move off the court, one child questioned staff direction. This was occurring on a court being used by a participant training with a foot injury, and the water spillage created an additional and unnecessary safety risk. It was also brought to our attention by the hirer that both children and parents were walking and running through the court during the booking.
• Running through courts that have active bookings, including Taekwondo sessions. These sessions can involve the use of training weapons, making this behaviour extremely dangerous. We have received feedback from multiple hirers that this has created safety concerns and disruptions to their bookings.
• Walking through courts where Futsal games were in progress, particularly during today’s Gala where games are competitive in nature. This behaviour poses a serious risk of collision and injury.
• Shooting basketballs into Netball hoops, despite being told several times not to do so. This damages the Netball hoops by bending them downward. Basketballs are to be used only with Basketball hoops.
• Using the venue as a general playground area. Our venue staff feel they are required to constantly monitor children outside of your allocated court space, which impacts their ability to perform their operational duties.
We ask that participants in your program do not play or run around on other courts that have been set up, are in use, or have been prepared for upcoming bookings. This behaviour damages equipment, poses significant safety hazards, and inconveniences other community hirers who have paid for exclusive use of their court.
Your booking provides access only to the courts allocated to your sessions. We therefore request that all participants and spectators remain within your designated area and do not enter or use other courts.
We understand that coaches are focused on delivering their sessions; however, we ask that these expectations be clearly communicated to all participants and parents to ensure everyone’s safety and the smooth operation of the venue.
We appreciate your cooperation in addressing these matters with your players and parents to ensure the safety of all venue users and the protection of our facilities.
Please feel free to contact us if you would like to discuss this further.
Kind regards,
Amber | Venue Supervisor
