Hi everyone,

Another week gone and I hope everyone is enjoying their time at basketball.

Things for this week:

· Representative Basketball trials for U16 – they will be held on 19th and 22nd September - please look on the SWM web site. The silhouette in the flyer is of our own Kobi Patrick who is playing U15

· Last game this term - is on weekend of the 16^th September & our first game back is on the weekend of 7^th October. We will start training Monday 3^rd October.

· Holiday camps - Sidney Mines (Runcorn State High School), Bullets (Calamvale Community College) & SouthWest Metro (Hibiscus) have something and all of them are targeted at a different skill level.

Coaches news

Bridie Kennedy – Hopoate who did sessions early this season with our U7/9 is now currently playing in Dallas.

Alysaa who has been doing the U7/9 sessions has gone back to America as her Australian contract has ended. She is very keen on returning next year.

Rob who has been doing our U7/9 all year and coaching an U13 Purple team has an opportunity to go to University and play Basketball in England and will be leaving at the end of the term.

Lennon Bann who coaches an U13 red team has made the Junior NBA team and is travelling to Japan in September.

It is truly amazing the quality of coaches your children have and don’t forget Ben Brown at the Nationals 2 weeks ago.

Competition Rules

Some rules are rarely enforced but we should all be aware of them all. One we should be aware of is leaning over the sideline when our opponent is throwing the ball in is a technical foul. You should get a warning first but be very mindful of this.
