ONE MORE WEEK OF GRADING THIS COMING WEEK

Hi everyone,

This coming week will be our last game of grading which for us will be great as we can stop making changes and settle down to the competition.

Teams

Our aim is to have all our teams win just over 50% of their games during this season which will put them into finals. As I have spoken about previously Basketball is about preparing our children for life and we all need to learn what to do and how to handle defeat and adversity as this is part of life, how you handle adversity shows the true character of people. When coaching I also look for what a player does after they make a mistake, we all make mistakes but what you do after the mistake truly matters.

If Southwest believe a team is too strong for a division they will move the team so we also have to be mindful of that, there is a meeting with all the Presidents prior to the first week of the competition proper where teams are discussed and we all try to make the competition as fair as possible.

Games

No points for wins or losses during grading count towards the competition proper. During season proper the last 2 minutes of each game the clock will stop every time the whistle blows. I have seen lots of new parents doing the scoring which is wonderful so thank you. The reason both teams have someone on the score bench is so that both teams are aware of the scores at the end of the game and believe they are accurate.

If your game is at MSHS – this is Marsden State High School and the entry is via Moffatt Road.

Mid week teams

We also have teams playing in the men's and ladies competition which is just for fun which sport is all about, below are our two ladies teams.

Train only

We now have a designated location and time for all our train only – they are now training at MacGregor State Primary school on the outdoor courts from 5-6pm on a Wednesday.

WhatsApp

I believe most teams have a Whatsapp group so that you can keep up to date with what is happening in their team.

Please contact your coordinator on information for your teams WhatsApp group.

I see some teams still don't have a Manager, if your team does not have a manager please consider being more than being a parent that just sits on the side line and be part of your child's activity, it is very rewarding.
